Today got my bottle of Pacific Shaving Company All Natural Shaving Cream, Omega 0146745, and Colonel Ichabod Conk Chrome Double Track Razor with Gillette Trac II cartridge blades, my Edwin Jagger DE89Lbl hasn't gotten here yet.
I just shaved with all that about an hour ago. It was probably one of the closest and smoothest shaves I've had, but it was a little off. First, I got about an almond size amount of creme on my finger and wiped it onto the bottom of a mug, then rinsed the brush a bit, dried it off, and got it moist again. Got some warm water on my face, filled the sink with some warm water and let the running water hit the blades. Started working the creme into a lather with the brush with a circular and back and forth motion. After about a minute, when it looked like a cool whip consistency, I squeezed out the lather from the brush, got some on the brush and the rest in the mug.
This is where the first issue came, I started to brush it along my face and I noticed the brush was not as soft as it felt on my fingers and was a but stiff, almost prickly. I also had to keep getting more lather and used like half of the mug to get it over my sideburns and bottom half of my face, not even my neck. I found out that if I used it like a paint brush making strokes with the side of the brush, instead of rubbing it all around with the brush splayed out, that I got a thicker lather and it applied easier.
Then I started shaving and I noticed that the creme was kind of gooey, when I pulled the razor away to rinse off, some strands of creme followed, like it had a gooey consistency. So I don't know if the creme is just like that or if I didn't lather it right. When I rinsed the razor in the sink with creme and hair on it, I noticed little solid white clumps floated on top, so that made me further question if I lathered it right or if it was just the way the creme was.
Then when I washed it off, I noticed it left a film, it was kind of sticky, as in friction, like if you washed your skin with cheap soap and it left a sticky film on your skin. I didn't like that at all, is that how the creme just is, like to protect the skin or something? Even after I washed my face it still left a bit of a film of residue.
Then I saw on the handle and blades that it left some gunk, like the residue that was on my face from the creme built up and collected on the handle and blades, maybe even with some dead skin cells from the shave.
At least I didn't get any irritation or anything, but I hope I can fix these issues.
