TIFU by self promoting my website

I recently made a website, and its done well, but everyone pointed out the interface was mobile centric and unorganized. I recently had a discussion with a friend about the infamous potato salad kickstarter project, and they suggested I do one to help out with the website redesign I was planning. Unfortunately I didn't take it too seriously, and my kickstarter project started on a whim was pretty slim on details. When I took to the same subreddits to mention it, I was quickly labeled a money grabbing slimeball, and my website's reputation ruined, and with it my website's traffic plummeted. Now I have to figure out how to gain people's trust back while rebuilding the website in the mean time. TIFU
