TIFU by making my mom cry

Its my birthday today. For a whole week I was wondering what I would be doing for my birthday yada yada. I wasn't expecting much, maybe a nice dinner and a movie that's all. When it got closer to the date however, no one seemed to bring my birthday up. It's fine whatever. Maybe they will remember once the time gets even closer or maybe they're planning something.

This morning I woke up and expected a "happy 17th birthday!" Nothing. I wandered the house a bit for a while and one parent was out, the other one was making plans with their friends. I considered just coming out and telling them that its my birthday, but I didn't want to look needy so I stayed quiet. My brother also showed no signs of knowing today was my birthday. I took out my frustrations on him the most since it was easier.

Came nighttime, I was convinced that they were finally going to take me out to dinner! Nope. My dad finally came home and took a nap right away on the couch and my mom went out. Okay...hours later I'm mad, annoyed, and hurt. It's 8 p.m and they still havent said anything.

My mom comes home finally and asks why I did not clean up the house, why didn't I cook dinner, why am I acting like such a brat, etc. Then my dad wakes up all grumpy and proceeds to tell her, "its because she's lazy", "she's an ungrateful child", "she spends too much time on her phone", " we should take away her things", "this is why I never want to do things for her", " don't expect her to ever do things correctly"

And at that moment, I blurted out, "yea well its not like I expect much from you guys anyway. You haven't even said happy birthday to me yet". Then, I started to cry angry tears. I was even more mad now that the tears wouldn't stop coming. And on my parents faces were the "oh shit" faces. I left the house blubbering a slobby mess and walked around the neighborhood like 4 times and came back home and locked myself in the room. An hour later, I hear my mom cry. Happy birthday birthday to me
