Ok. I work at Ross. I was working the fitting room and the day was already stressful and shitty. I had a crap ton of clothes on the racks that needed to get back on the floor. I was running out of room on the racks, and the customers were working my nerves. So as I was running from the dress department back to the fitting room, I saw two customers walking back to where the restrooms were (the restrooms are across from the fitting rooms). I was speed walking behind them in case they wanted to use the fitting room.
So, not thinking, I assumed that one customer was another male that was walking around the store (mind you I was behind them, and I assumed that one woman was a man, she looked like a light skinned Gabriel Iglesias from behind). So when I saw them go into the bathroom I said "the men's restroom is around the corner" doh! And the other woman came out of the bathroom and said "you shouldn't make assumptions like that, some people go off". I deeply apologized and they left. It had been a stressful day and I wasn't thinking.
