So... i work for a small landscaping company that makes fish ponds and we were working on the store property today. We were installing a large showpiece pond next to the parking lot. I was moving large rocks and gravel to the other guys for them to place while my boss and his dog were supervising the activities. A small red sedan pulls in and apparently some very old friends and good customers of my boss start getting out when his dog smells the medium poodle they brought with them and goes in for the kill..... The dog is very sweet and docile around our customers and people but is very aggressive towards other dogs. Our dog goes in, and puts his jaw around this poodle's neck while me and my team our about 4 feet away. Only one of our guys went over to get our dog and chase him into the shop. The whole scene lasted about 1 minute with the poor owners of the poodle leaving for the veterinarian emergency room. My boss, walks into the shop for a while and we continue working then comes out a few minutes later and says "thats a dead dog" and it sent chills through my spine. He then remarked, "you guys sure were slow to help me out with [insert dogs name]" and i felt guilty the rest of the day up until now. I later heard from one of guys it would cost my boss 700$ for stitches but luckily, the poodle was alive and the customers took the incident surprisingly well.. My fuck up was just standing there, witnessing, not intervening... if i intervened, my boss's dog wouldn't have had a chance, i would've had my hands around his neck with my knee on his ribcage on the ground and a poodle could of been spared... I should of jumped in but fear and shock got the better of me... I should of gotten over there and stopped it and my boss let me know about it.
TL;DR: My bosses dog nearly killed a customers dog while i stood there and didn't do anything, don't be a bystander
